When a team of film crew came into Resurrection last week, they begged an begged that we allowed them to film Alexa Chung's new show Frock Me instore. After lots of persuading, we finally gave in! The theme for this week was festivals (the most exciting time of year is nearly upon us!!!) and they were more than pleased with what we had to offer. Resurrection treated its loyal customer base to the first glimpse of the forthcoming high-end range from Rare last night (May 20), at a special in-store event.
The new range, called Rare Opulance, is yet to be stocked in the city, and Resurrection customers got a first look at the collection during a catwalk show which took place during the event.
Those lucky enough to attend were also given a peek at the new Jones & Jones and Traffic People ranges, all this together with a healthy 20% discount off anything in-store, free cocktails and nibbles and a DJ.

Channel 4's flagship show 'Frock Me' filmed in store on Saturday, as the weekly 'Frock Off' style challenge took shape. The theme for the Liverpool leg of the show was 'festival fashion', and local contestant and T-shirt designer Matt Fisher hit Resurrection for essential items to complete his look.
The show, presented by Alexa Chung and Henry Holland, scours the country for fabulous fashionistas, stealing their style tips, while ransacking the nation for accessible ways to tap into the season's hottest looks.

Resurrection took a trip back to the swinging sixties this week, for a photoshoot inspired by our latest haul of Mary Quant tights. The hard to find, and highly coveted hoisery was featured in the Liverpool Echo, in a fashion shoot styled entirely from vintage treasures from the store. Be sure to visit the burgeoning vintage section, currently heaving with frocks, furs and frilly bits, to lay your hands on a pair. From the ditzy floral pair, to the bright fushia, the sixties was certainly a decade not to shy away from colour!
And spring is in the air elsewhere in Resurrection, with the floral theme taking centre stage in latest collections from Sugarhill, Yumi and Eucalyptus. The new range from Jones and Jones has also arrived, with lace, pastels and skater skirt dresses causing a bit of a storm on the girls floor.

We had some charming visitors last week at Resurrection, B2K came for a photo shoot and an interview with the BBC! A quick recap for those who don't know, B2K are a R'n'B group from America, founded and managed by music producer Chris Stokes. Bump, Bump, Bump was their biggest hit with P.Diddy, come on you all know it 'let me see that sexy body go, bump, bump, bump!' With the best names EVER Lil Fizz, J-Booq, Omarion and Raz-B are reunited after a break up in 2004, and shopping in Resurrection, the natural step from hip-hop hibernation. The Specials, Super Furry Animals, Calvin Harris, Seasick Steve, Kasabian....haven't they done well those Music Week big wigs? We are all off to show our support at the smaller venues too, of course with Screaming Lights, The Bicycle Thieves and Hot Club De Paris playing Alma de Cuba at some point, and our shop mate Marina and the Diamonds are coming back to Liverpool for this oh, so special week. For those outside the city, Liverpool Music Week happens once a year, and is one big, week long indoor music festival. It's an exciting time of year and as the nights go dark early, fireworks get set off at bustops and Halloween is almost upon us, we've been throwing cobwebs all over the shop and making Gordon look scarier than usual. There's a load of vintage lace dresses that would be perfect for fancy dress costumes, boys, take note!

Resurrection was honoured today when Temptations star Dennis Edwards and his wife walked through our door and bought presents for their daughters. Dennis is performing at the Liverpool Philharmonic on Saturday night along with other Soul giants Russell Thompkins, Jr, Peabo Bryson, Deniece Williams, Jimmy Ruffin, Billy Paul, Freda Payne, Dorothy Moore, Jean Knight, Liverpool’s own Connie Lush and very special guest star Percy Sledge.
Dennis charmed us all with his warmth and larger than life personality. The Temptations are regulars on our playlist and it was quite surreal having Dennis sat on our sofa while Ball of Confusion was playing on our system.

The Resurrection team are all bronzed (or burnt) and sparkling clean after holidays in the sun, weekend bbq's in the park, not forgetting the annual pilgrimage to Glastonbury. With the exception of the natives of Corfu, we spotted many of Resurrection's attire on our not so distant travels. It seems we had provided Liverpool's festival goers with the suitable clobber for dancing, drinking cider, eating burgers, having fun, all the while, looking great. It all went a bit floral and nautical for the summer season, an odd combo really! Flowered wellies, pink Converse, striped Motel dresses, sailor button high-waist skirts, denim hotpants from Wrangler and Only, the popular Fresh Air vintage tees on both men and women, and our Fly53 bestseller, Ketamine Just say Neigh tee! Lily Allen has been tottering about in one of our silky Sugarhill dresses, backstage at Glasto, the boys from Babyshambles were milling around in our latest Merc and Fila polos. As always, our vintage section was brimming with boho tops and reworked dresses from the 60's, 70's and 80's that we alter ourselves to fit you perfectly. As we try to forget the lazy summer days and nights, and as the sun shies away for the coming season, we have some great collections that will certainly entice you into the autumn spirit. Lots of new and exciting stuff is getting shipped our way over the next few months. Classic and much sought after brands such as Fila, Dr Martens and Nike 6.0 are coming to Resurrection this autumn, oh and we've also managed to get our hands on Puma and Fred Perry! Never fear, we are still replenishing bestsellers, in particular Resurrection's key pieces such as the Harrington jacket from Merc and a new style Harrington from Warrior. The mod style is still an important element for us, and so we've really built upon this section with retro threads from Slyde, Merc, Ben Sherman and Lambretta. If you have never been into Resurrection, (and living in another country is no excuse!) we have Lambretta and Vespa scooters straight out of the cult film Quadrophenia! Come and see! After our ridiculous summer sale and the start of the ridiculous cold weather, we have been steadily releasing our Autumn/Winter 2009 gems. The chilly winds are not too bad when you can wrap up in our latest styles! New to Resurrection this season are Carhartt, Nike 6.0, Fred Perry and Peter Werth along with gorgeous new collections from Sugahill, Traffic People and Rare. The View are stopping over in Liverpool for a wee while from Dundee to record their new album and so popped in to get kitted out. The Merc duffel coat and Lee Rider denim jacket were particular favourites for them teamed with the skinniest of skinny jeans from Monkee Gene and the new Lee Macky slim fit. We got them to pose for the camera, so you can see what they got up to on the gallery page. We got the staff involved for the fun bits of the website, getting the girls glammed up and beautiful in all our new Autumn/Winter stock. Fuelled with a little bit of wine, they stayed one night, into the early hours of the morning, modeling for you all! It's hard work, but someone has to do it....... It's the BOLD STREET FESTIVAL this weekend, hurrah! 26th and 27th September has finally arrived! Come down to join in the festivities, we will be offering a big, fat 20% OFF everything in store, and the entire street will be dancing and singing and probably eating, drinking and shopping too! On Sunday the 27th from 2pm til 4pm Andrew Collinge graduates will be snipping away in the girls floor window. They say if you’ve lived in a city for 8 years then you can class yourself as a local. So if this is the case, then I guess I would be called a scouser? However, style wise, do I want to be?
In the sixties Liverpool was known as a city at the heart of trend setting and style. Yet these days, from an outsider’s point of view, Liverpool style is viewed as over done, orange, shell suits and fake. Now, I don’t have fake hair, my eyelashes are my own and I would class myself as pale if not pasty and pretty much everyone I know, that lives here, is the same as myself. And yes, from time to time the odd orange person does pass me in the street but don’t they inhabit every town centre? So why is there such a stigma in Liverpool? I cannot answer the question, I can only raise the debate, and give you my own personal spin on why I feel it’s time the myth about Liverpool’s shops and style is broken.
Since moving to Liverpool I have never been so inspired by style. My personal style has evolved and grown over the years, thanks to the many cultures that inhabit the city, there is a vibrant individuality amongst its people. There is so much music and art and music breeds fashion. Steeped in history the shops are also thrilling and interesting places to be, with a bustling vintage demand running throughout the city.
Out of the many fantastic places to shop in Liverpool, Resurrection is the stand out store. Resurrection began life as a little vintage shop in Quiggins, Liverpool, and has now over a few years developed into a 3-floor mega store. Still based in Liverpool, Resurrection has now relocated to the very trendy Bold Street. The store has a strong identity selling both to men and women, shoes, bags and accessories.
Resurrection stocks an array of garments, ranging from one of a kind vintage dresses to independent labels, and even clothes altered by the staff themselves. The basement and ground levels of the store are dedicated to men’s clothing selling brands like - Converse, Ringspun, and Ben Sherman. The ladies clothes are on the top level and apart from the fantastic section dedicated completely to vintage shoes, clothes, bags and coats they also sell Lipsy, Peoples Market, Sugarhill, and Religion to name but a few.
Myself I have been a customer for many years and with the electric vibe and friendly staff it’s a place that makes you want to continuously return to for that once of a kind piece. So if you ever visit the city be sure to stop by Resurrection to get a piece of Liverpool style and I guarantee not a shell suit in sight!
