Music: Hey Carrianne

Today we met with Carrianne, of Hey Carrianne, one of Resurrection’s musical fans, to find out what we can expect from her gig next week. If you love sensuous bluesy rhythms and sexy vocals you may want to drop in to see them next weekend.

We asked Carrianne to describe her music.

“With too many influences to list, try to imagine the love child Tracy Chapman and James Mercer would have after a long hot summer with both members of the Black Keys and a tonguing from Beth Gibbons…then you’re just round the corner.”

And their next gig?

“Appearing at The Lomax on the 18th Jan w/Mono LP’s/Young Tines/ Thomas McConnell.”

Carrianne then told us her most recent Resurrection purchase was some Nike Blazers for a relative over Christmas and she has her eye on some of the new stock advertised as coming soon in the next few weeks for herself.

Hey Carrianne

‘With an intricacy and accessibility that is not commonly achieved, Hey Carrianne constructs sweeping compositions of folk-inspired pop that always hit a memorable chord. After listening to their music, it’s not hard to see why they’ve been given the chance to support acts such as James Vincent McMorrow’ – Woodland Social

“Hey Carrianne are definitely ones to watch… and my new favourite local band” – Nicola Denton, Liverpool Live

“Shimmering indie-folk from Hey Carrianne cements their position as all-star ensemble m

ost likely to…” – Seven Streets

‘Carrianne has a talent of being confident and engaging with the crowd without coming across as arrogant or overshadowing the rest of the immensely talented members of the band. Also her gravelly, yet somehow sweet voice is captivating and creates an aurally pleasing contradiction which compliments the bluesy guitars and bouncy drums. Hey Carrianne! gave an energetic set with great pop music, there wasn’t anything not to like’ – ManGoneBlog
